This is a sensitive, precision respirometer and detector of microbial activity. Detection of metabolic activity is determined by pressure transients relating to gaseous exchanges within a 50 ml closed culture vessel because of microbial respiration. This has advanced mixing technology that efficiently homogenizes culture conditions and rapidly converts gaseous exchange due to metabolic processes into detectable pressure transients. This measures both positive and negative pressure meaning that monitoring can be performed on a range of microbial processes reacting to differing conditions within the culture chamber.
This is very sensitive and can detect the presence of just one CFU in 50 ml of liquid. Should detect contamination in a sample, users have the option to run a pasteurization protocol so that it destroys bacteria that are present in the culture vessel removing the need to dispose of culture vessels as hazardous waste. Culture vessels that have been through the pasteurization process can be disposed of as normal waste
